Camping is an integral part of the Scouting program. In the outdoors, kids have opportunities to acquire skills that make them more self-reliant. They can explore canoe and hiking trails and complete challenges they first thought were beyond their ability. Attributes of good character become part of a young person as they learn to cooperate to meet challenges they may face in the great outdoors. The Atlanta Area Council offers Scouts BSA summer resident camp at both Camp Bert Adams in Covington, Georgia and Camp Woodruff in Blairsville, Georgia. Weekend Camping is also available at both properties except during the summer.
