As you get more involved in Scouting and begin going on outings with your Scouts you'll need to complete some additional trainings. These trainings ensure that you are prepared to safely conduct campouts and other outings. At least one adult on each outing must have completed the trainings in this phase. Weather Hazards Training
At least one leader on a campout will need to have a current Weather Hazards training certification, which is available through My.Scouting.org.
BALOO, OWLS or ITOLS
In order to learn the fundamentals of camping and outdoor program delivery Adult Leaders complete Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO), Outdoor WEBELOS Leadership Skills (OWLS) or Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (ITOLS).
Cub Scout leaders should complete BALOO, which is an in-person course (see the Council Training Calendar for available).
WEBELOS leaders should complete OWLS, which is an in-person course (see the Council Training Calendar for available dates).
Boy Scout and Venturing leaders should complete ITOLS, which is an in-person course (see the Council Training Calendar for available dates).
